unwanted !!

Few days back I called my mom and she told me one of my cousin sister aborted her baby. I was happy because it was her 4th baby, but later she (my mom) told me, she aborted her baby because it was a baby girl as she wanted a boy this time. She is a well educated girl and right now working as a professor in a college .I was really shocked at her decision. She aborted the baby not because it was 4th baby but because it was a baby girl. How can some 1 do that?

Well I don’t protest these actions if its done for the good of both mother and child.But there are some underlying reasons which are somewhat sensible. The Indian culture instills a preference for male children. Sons will carry the family name when they marry, will be handed on the family property, and will care for their parents in their old age.Traditionally, the son’s wife moves into his family’s home, and their family grows in the same house. The father of the bride must also pay a dowry on the occasion of her wedding, so a daughter is considered a bit of a financial burden. Consider this in combine with the fact that female-selected abortion. It is easy to see that a dowry is quite a large consideration. While growing up, children might encounter this phase of their culture. This encounter could have dangerous effects on a growing girl’s self-esteem and self-worth. Children are precious. They should be considered a gift,no child deserves to be put in a position where

they feel inferior to anyone or anything.Boy or girl, both should be treated equal.
